Children will be encouraged to share the treat with their parents, do some arts and craft (coloring boxes) and bring small box of 2 Brigadeiros home.

Did you know?

The Brigadeiro is a traditional Brazilian sweet and was first created in the 1940s.  It is a chocolate truffle and was named after a famous Brazilian politician of the 1920s, Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes.

Gomes was an Air Force brigadier who became renowned after using his skills to help stop a communist coup in the city of Rio de Janeiro.  This brigadier ran for the presidency in 1946 and 1950, though unsuccessfully. Gomes’ title of brigadier is where the title of “brigadeiro” comes from.  Gomes’ slogan for the presidency was ““Vote no Brigadeiro que é bonito e é solteiro!” which means “Vote for the brigadier who is handsome and single!”  Brazilian ladies were quite taken with this gentleman, and therefore, they named the Brazilian famous sweet after him.

Gomes lost the election but Brazil gained a delicious new treat.

This original delicacy is made of condensed milk, cocoa powder and butter; nowadays you have variations including coconut, dark chocolate, nuts and others.

The hardest part is to stop eating after you try one!!  BOOK HERE
